The future of English

English- is a very powerful subject. Having the power to write can be a big help in society as a whole. This is because it has become a very dependable way to get in touch with people. Whether by letter, which rarely happens anymore, E-mail, which is become less and less, or by text, that is growing rapidly. Knowing how to write is very useful and knowing how to communicate with others is important. English has helped this by bringing in concepts that can make most people want to learn and want to know how they can better themselves. This is because knowing this can make a person appear more intelligent and be able to hold a conversation that will make sense and not confuse others. English in my opinion can change the world, but mainly I believe is can change society. When someone goes in for a job interview they will need to know proper language, even when talking to an adult or someone older then you. It is always good to talk to them with respect; English can teach you this as well as the right things to say. You would not talk to your elders the way you would talk to you friends, this is considered rude and can give the person a bad reputation amongst others. Though knowing how to use Language right as knowing how to address others is what English is really made for. Looking at novels is a great way to understand how English can help. When reading a novel the person can tell automatically if they author is addressing a particular crowd. We can learn a lot from authors and elderly. They know in my opinion how to be proper and in what situations. It is not true for everything but for most things it can give a person some idea. The future for English in my opinion is that if it is not taken seriously in the schools starting at a young age it may disappear with the younger generation. Since computers have made it easier for us to communicate with each other is has also given us a reason to be lazy and that is not good. People think less and try to find easier ways of doing almost everything. Even typing as gone down a lot, people are starting to come up with abbreviations on how to spell different words and even use them in their everyday lives. This is not all bad but when students start to bring it into the classroom or even into a work place it is a big problem. There is a time and place for this and in schools is not one of those times.  Working for a better future is always a must, but maybe learning that English is needed very much is something worth working for, especially if it can give the person a better advantage at a real future, and not a fabricated one.

  1. This topic is extremely important, because I feel as if writing in the education world is dying. Plagiarism has gotten so huge in today's society and that tells us that student' don't know how to come up with their own ideas or writing is being taught correctly. I believe your case about writing and communication is important, because if we don't know how to communicate how can we write and if we can't write how can we get our thoughts across. Continue on this topic and see where it goes, because this topic is tremendous.

  2. I agree 100%. Being able to write and communicate is an important life skill that, unfortunately, does not seem to be given as much importance today as it should. And as you pointed out in your last post, students aren't caring as much as they should about learning English skills that they will need in their future. What kind of solution to this problem would you suggest?

  3. I agree with you for sure! This hiding behind a computer screen (a.k.a. Facebook) has driven society to become little hermits and not leave our room. I'm very irritated when people use abbreviations in formal writing.

As far as English changing the world, I'm not really seeing it. When I read that I thought of English taking form of a Messiah and uniting the whole planet. How is English going to change the whole world? I'm sure many other countries feel that their language should be learned by us English speakers! I love your background picture, by the way. :)
